The Texas Learning and Computation Center Welcomes the Intel Cluster OpenMP Workshop

Document Actions
TLC2 cordially invites you to an Intel sponsored Cluster OpenMP workshop, March 3, 2006. The workshop will take place on the University of Houston campus at the TLC2 facility on the 2nd floor of Philip G. Hoffman Hall. Computer Science and TLC2 affiliated faculty member Dr. Barbara Chapman will be the host. The workshop is free and will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. Registration is required with limited seating of 40 seats. Lunch will be provided. For more information call 713-743-3361.

About the Workshop:

Cluster OpenMP is an implementation of the OpenMP standard that runs on a cluster. The OpenMP standard specifies a set of directives for use in C, Fortran, and C++ that can be used to run programs in parallel on shared memory multiprocessors. Cluster OpenMP extends this programming model to non-shared memory machines interconnected by a network, such as Ethernet or Infiniband. A simple extension to the OpenMP standard (the sharable directive) may be required in order to run a program using Cluster OpenMP.

TLC2 is hosting this Intel based workshop to assist interested participants in learning how to run their programs using Cluster OpenMP. Some familiarity with OpenMP and parallel programming is desirable, although not required. The morning consists of training lectures on OpenMP and Cluster OpenMP; followed by some hands-on laboratory exercises. In the afternoon, participants are urged to bring their own codes to port to Cluster OpenMP, or to work with large codes that Intel will provide. Access to Intel hardware and to workstations is provided.
